Gastromotiva Refettorio
Launched during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, in a partnership between Gastromotiva and Food for Soul, a foundation of Chef Massimo Bottura (elected in the same year, best chef in the world, by the British magazine The Restaurant) and with journalist Ale Forbes, the Gastromotiva Refettorio is the great legacy for the city: a Social Gastronomy HUB, in the heart of Lapa – RJ.
This unique culinary hub blends a training ground for aspiring chefs with a heartwarming community kitchen. From Monday to Friday, this welcoming space transforms into a haven for those in need, offering nourishing evening meals prepared with love and expertise.
Refettorio Gastromotiva is now a restaurant open to the public for lunch, Monday to Friday. The space is open between 11:30 am and 3 pm, with a unique and sustainable menu, with starter, main course, dessert and beverage. The initiative aims to guarantee daily solidarity dinners in the space itself. The beneficiaries served will be served in the same way as customers – with starter, main course, dessert and beverage, and will eat the same food.
Menus are crafted based on the day’s fresh produce, generously donated by our esteemed partners. Refettorio Gastromotiva has an extensive list of partner chefs who volunteer in the space. This is a star-studded team that defines the menus served at lunch to customers and at dinner to beneficiaries.
The fixed-price lunch service will help us offer quality food daily to people in socially vulnerable situations. The amount raised from meals sold during lunch hours will also be directed to the organization’s educational pillar, so that it is possible to offer an even greater number of people free training in the area of gastronomy.
